Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Arrives, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases

In the vein of the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.

The company has a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
